Real warehouse floors, with more on the way.

This is a newer, smaller category here. The real work so far comes out of the JK Tyre plants, where raw-material and finished-goods warehouses were part of the broader manufacturing scan.

From the capture-program era, the standard here: alignment discipline through racking, aisle by cleared aisle.

What this is actually good for

A snapshot, not just a floor plan.

A warehouse scan captures two things an owner or a prospective tenant both care about: a real, timestamped record of what was stored where at the moment of the scan, and precise, measurable building dimensions: ceiling height, floor area, column spacing. For an owner renting out space, that second part matters more than it might seem: a prospective tenant evaluating a facility remotely can actually judge whether their racking or equipment fits, rather than relying on a listing's stated square footage and hoping it's accurate. If the wider commercial space is also part of the picture, Commercial Real Estate covers that ground in more depth.

For a larger, higher-throughput facility specifically, the same underlying data does more: testing storage layout and shelving density virtually before physically moving anything, giving a remote operations or facilities team the ability to check on a site's real condition without a flight or a site visit, and keeping a documented, dated record across a whole network of sites rather than whatever a regional manager happened to photograph on their last visit. None of that requires shutting a facility down to capture it. Matterport's own supply-chain research goes deeper into this than a single project page can.

Every real project on this site so far has meant working around an active, in-production environment: a tyre plant running at full output during capture, a hotel operating normally through a scan. That's the actual, proven track record here: knowing how to work cleanly around movement and people without needing anything to stop. A facility with heavier automation (conveyor systems, AS/RS, robotics) would still need a direct conversation to scope safety protocols properly, but the underlying skill of capturing an actively busy, moving space isn't new territory.

A real, time-limited offer

50% off, for warehouse projects, through 2026.

More on this

Worth knowing.

The warehouse sections at both JK Tyre plants (Gwalior and Chennai) were documented as part of the wider manufacturing project, not as standalone jobs. That's the current state of this category right now: real, but limited to what came along with a bigger project.

Warehousing and logistics has a personal connection worth mentioning: my father ran an ABT Courier franchise in Kotagiri for years, so parcel and freight operations aren't unfamiliar territory, even if the client list here is still short.

All FAQs
Is this a fully developed service yet?

Not yet. It's real but early, currently limited to what came along with the JK Tyre manufacturing projects rather than a standalone offering.

Would you take on warehouse projects pro bono while building this out?

Yes, selectively. Getting varied, real-world warehouse content is worth more right now than turning down interesting work over rate.
