360 Degree Cameras

We were India’s first authorised distributors of Insta360 degree cameras on Amazon.in. With over 1 crore revenue on our first year of selling online, we have since transitioned to a service business. While we don’t use consumer 360 degree cameras for our projects, they can be great for college students, Google Local Guides, and those starting out with Matterport virtual tours.

For virtual tours, we recommend the Ricoh Theta Z1. Shop 360 Degree Cameras compatible with Matterport

If you don’t care about Matterport, and fine with purchasing from Chinese manufactures, there’s a newly-released 8K Insta360 X4. The motorcycle bundle, for instance, comes with clamps and accessories you’ll need on your trip.

Unlike earlier, the device now supports removable lens guards. With no service centre in India, this is a welcome feature.

If you’re uploading panoramic images to Google Street View, ensure no people are visible or recognisable. Same with vehicle number plates.

Learn More and Start Selling

As long as you have a GST and a bank account, you can start selling. We’ll keep it simple for businesses considering it:

  1. Scenario 1: If you’re a manufacturer who’s been selling locally so far, it’s time to go online. Register on Seller Central and list your products. Add margins, being aware of commissions, tax and other overheads. When you get a sale, you can either choose to ship it yourself to the customer, or get Amazon to pick it up and deliver for you. If things go well, you can also send your products to Amazon warehouses, so they handle the packaging, labels and shipping. You get to hear the ‘chime’ on the Amazon seller app on your smartphone. We sellers consider that chime to be the sweetest music ever.
  2. Scenario 2: You’re a distributor. Unlike the first scenario, you may not be a brand owner, but can still sell products as long as you have authorisation from that brand. You have the same shipping methods as above. You can also choose Sponsored Advertising to appear in front of potential customers.
Be careful here, because you don’t want to step on someone else’s toes. Check if there are other sellers selling the same product that you’re thinking of. If you list again, it will increase competition and possibly reduce margins for all sellers.
  3. Scenario 3: You’re a trader. Unlike distributors or resellers like the above case (think iPhones from Apple), which will need authorisation, this scenario takes some effort. Let’s say you know some local industries who produce clothing or furniture, you buy in wholesale and add your own brand to it, before listing online. As long as your quality is good, your brand will bring in regular sales and loyal customers. You can have your brand on the product as well as the packaging.

The e-com industry is quite lucrative. With customers all over India adopting online payments, and trusting marketplaces, your coverage is quite vast. You may have a one-room warehouse but could rake in millions a month. Yes, we personally know sellers who do this already. If you or someone you know is considering selling online, it’s a great time to start.

You’ll need an auditor for monthly GST and annual IT filing. Reconciliation is important and the history shown can potentially bring in investors to scale your business. Manufacturers and exclusive distributors have the advantage of being able to sell in other marketplaces like the U.S., Europe and more. As a new seller, start with listing one or two products in the Indian region to get a better idea of the process. Feel free to reach out to us for any questions at all.

Amazon has a great onboarding team, and there are also empaneled service providers who will help you in different aspects of your selling journey.
